My role as a private patient advocate is to clear the confusion, help you move through the healthcare maze, and support you to be in control of your health.


How do I provide patient advocacy?

I listen. I listen to your story to find out who you are and what you want…your beliefs, what is importkathleenant to your life, the type of care you want and what you don’t want.

I learn. I learn what you are willing to do for your care, what you are willing to compromise, the risks you are willing to take and what you do not want to risk.

Together, we develop a plan for you – based on your decisions – in partnership with the knowledge and expertise of your health care team and other resources and within the medical and financial options available to you.

 

As a patient advocate I do not work against the medical system, but work with you and your providers to assure that your voice is heard and respected. I research options for you that you can discuss with your team. I help you determine your health insurance options so that you can avoid surprise medical bills.

I do not provide medical care or legal advice. Nor do I make decisions for you. Instead, I am your “coach in your corner” supporting you to get the care you want and need.I cannot guarantee the outcome of the plan we develop, but I can promise that the process will be in support of your goals because this is your life.
